At Heron Park Recreation Centre in Scarborough, Diane lays out the art supplies and awaits the arrival of preschoolers attending the centre's art program. If you could see her face, you'd see concentration, pride and happiness intermingle as she carries out her responsibilities as a volunteer at the centre. It's a job that fills Diane with confidence,
and it might not have happened without generous contributions to Community Living Toronto from our donors.

Community Living Toronto is committed to the goal of lifelong learning.

They say that lifelong learning is the key to health and happiness for all of us. For over 60 years, Community Living Toronto has been helping thousands of people with an intellectual disability - people like Diane - learn the necessary skills to live to their fullest potential in their own community. We support over 6,000 individuals and their families in Toronto each year, giving them a voice and supporting their choices where they live, learn, work and play. Initiatives include programs such as the Adult Development Program, Youth 2 Work, Employment Training Services, recreational programs, community activities and so many more.

Help someone in your community continue along their journey of learning.

No one should feel left out of the excitement and fulfillment of learning.
As you and your family head back to school, preschool, university or even one of Toronto's many night school classes, think about those who need extra support to learn the skills they need to thrive. These are people with an intellectual disability, and they're in every part of Toronto. They are your neighbours.

With a donation of $50, $75 or $150, you can help someone with an intellectual disability learn a new skill.

Along with the support of Community Living Toronto, individuals can learn a wide range of skills such as cooking, employment skills, taking transit, motor skills and the arts.  Patricia is a perfect example of how learning can bring joy and purpose to the life of a person with an intellectual disability.

Patricia belongs to Community Living Toronto's Creative Village Studio, an all-inclusive art studio and gallery, which provides art programs to individuals with an intellectual disability.   Through the studio's art club, Patricia has learned to express herself through her artwork and enjoys a sense of fulfillment and pride - while earning wages too! The art club was even featured on Global Television's "Making a Difference" segment with Susan Hay. The outpouring of support after the piece was aired has been a wonderful source of inspiration to everyone involved, including Patricia.

With your help, there can be more success stories like Patricia and Diane.
Kheng is one too!

Years ago, when it was time for Kheng to transition out of high school and into the community, there were very few options. He was afraid to go out by himself because he didn't know how to take transit, so he stayed at home with nothing to do but wait.

Thanks to an increase in funding, additional spaces opened up in Community Living Toronto's Youth 2 Work program, which supports youth transitioning out of high school and into the world of work and community involvement. It was the perfect program for Kheng! Through Youth 2 Work, Kheng learned to use the TTC independently, with confidence. He now attends a part-time literacy class, joins in social activities and has a paid position at Boston Pizza.

I've seen what a difference a new skill can make to an individual with an intellectual disability, and it can't be overstated! Doors open and the impossible becomes achievable. Imagine how it would feel to know that your donation can provide the means for someone like Kheng to achieve independence by learning to take the TTC! Or for someone like Patricia to be paid for artwork that she's proud of!

Choose to support Community Living Toronto today with a gift of $50, $75 or $150, and more people like Patricia, Diane and Kheng will find fulfillment and happiness through learning.

Your generous gift can help us create the next success story!
